Men’s imbizo discusses social ills
According to Pastor Lucky Cele his wish is to see more such initiatives in future.
Grace Ministries-Emseni along with the Department of Social Development held an Imbizo Yamadoda in Mtwalume last Saturday, to discuss social ills that affect men, and gender-based violence (GBV).
Pastor Lucky Cele said that every other day they hear of ‘a man has killed’.
“Men in our surrounding areas are reported to have killed a woman every now and then, and I then thought of how we can discuss this and find a way to speak to men, so that we can avoid such cases in the future.”
Cele said other stakeholders joined them and he also asked a local Induna to gather more men for the imbizo.
He added alcohol abuse and the use of drugs lead to GBV.

“Unemployment which causes frustration for men can also lead to GBV. We had people who talked about how unemployment can be managed better. We also saw a need for life skills for men.”
According to Cele his wish is to see this initiative grow. The attendance for the programme was good, however, it had not reached the number of people envisaged.
Also, the organisation has a programme for teenagers, aged 14 and above, to guide them to become responsible men.
