Top cricketer inspires at academy in Scottburgh

Chloe Tryon created a vibrant atmosphere.

Ladies cricket sensation Chloe Tryon recently visited the Clinton Moodley Cricket Academy (CMCA).

CMCA has established a ladies cricket team, and boasts over 20 young ladies who aspire to one day play for South Africa.

Tryon’s presence created a vibrant atmosphere and brought lots of excitement with players and coaches taking selfies and asking tons of questions.

“It was truly a privilege and an inspiration to have her visit us at Scottburgh County Club,” said the team.

The legendary South African cricketer is a former mid-South Coast local and has appeared for South Africa in all formats of the game.

On her debut for South Africa, a Twenty20 International against West Indies in the 2010 Women’s World Twenty20, she claimed two wickets in her first over, one with her first delivery, becoming the first cricketer to take a wicket with the first ball of her career in WT20I history. She along with Suné Luus set the record for the highest ever 6th wicket partnership in the history of WODI (142 runs).

This year, during the Tri-Nation Series, Tryon took her maiden hat-trick and five-wicket haul in ODIs against Sri Lanka on May 9.
