Golfers make merry at Sheppie

The camaraderie was superb and the club thanked the golfers for their support.

The vibes were electric at Port Shepstone Country Club’s August business golf day, as the club welcomed new sponsor, MakMoer (Vernon Albrecht).

There field of 60 players all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Thanks were extended to Maser Security (Rudi Coetzee) and Mi7 (Hendrik Gericke) for their generous sponsorships and joining in on the day.

Winners were Gavin van Wyk, Bruce Holmes, Ian Stewart and Allan Rowley on 87 points.

They counted out Eddie Ringo, Goose Goosen, Carl Zietsman and Kevin Oxenham on 87 points, who in turn counted out Gary Vogt, Lionel Peters, Bevis Fairbrother and Piet Snyman.

Nearest the pins were Sashen Govender (5th), Theo van Rooyen (8th), Lionel Peters (14th) and Rudi Coetzee (17th).

The next day the Pro Shop betterball was won by Howard Crouch and Ian Mitchell on 49 points, seven ahead of Allan Clark and Kirk Larsen on 42 points.

The monthly mug, played last Wednesday, was won by Ganes Munsami on nett 67, off a 10 handicap. He also had the best gross of 77.

Division winners were Gavin van Wyk (A div on nett 70), Fanie Terblanche (B div on nett 71) and Chris Boyce (C div on net 79).

Individual Stableford winner was Dr Ayoob Bux on 37 points.

In the ladies’ section the medal was won by Louise Snyman on nett 70. First through the field was Cecelia Verster on nett 73.
