Provincial cricket honour for Scottburgh’s Jennifer-Jayne

Her strengths are in both batting and bowling, but this recent selection was for batting.

Jennifer-Jayne Miller is a talented young female cricketer that has made the KZN Dolphins U13 Girls Cricket team.

The team will be travelling to Gauteng later this year for a tournament.

The 12-year-old is a Grade 7 learner at Umdoni Christian Academy and thoroughly enjoys the sport.

Her passion started around the age of nine, and her grandmother Jayne Leech was part of the inspiration as she was a cricketer herself.

One of Jennifer-Jayne’s favourite cricketers is Chloe Tryon.

Besides the actual love for the game, Jennifer-Jayne enjoys playing with other passionate players and the overall spirit and support from spectators.

Her strengths are in both batting and bowling, but this recent selection was for batting.

The trials were early on in the year and she went up against more than 100 other girls, before this number was trimmed and then trimmed again before the final touring squad was chosen.
“This achievement means the world to me because it has shown me that whatever you put your mind to is possible and that you should believe in yourself no matter what,” she said.

Jennifer-Jayne Miller is a passionate young cricketer.

“I am looking forward to meeting new people and going on tour and playing against the other provinces.”

The youngster’s favourite cricket shot is the pull shot, and her favourite cricketers are Chloe Tryon and David Miller, as she considers them exceptional role models.

When she is not batting and bowling, Jennifer-Jayne enjoys playing netball, golf, pickleball, soccer, swimming and surfing at the beach.
