Join Mid South Coast Crew as a majorette in Scottburgh

This is an exciting opportunity for young athletes in Scottburgh and surrounding areas.

The Mid South Coast Crew – a majorette and performance cheerleading team is giving young talent an opportunity to join in.

This independent development team practises at the Scottburgh Country Club on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The crew is currently recruiting athletes from Grades 1-12 for the junior and senior team, and over 18 for the tertiary team.

Liezel Jooste (aka coach Wiezy), said that this sport will help athletes unleash potential, build confidence and life skills, teach teamwork, leadership, and endurance.

Together with her daughter Calisra (aka coach Jade), they bring years of experience with them to the sport.

Majorettes combine dance and drill movements to make up displays and marches. It also involves a number of props such as flags, pom-poms, batons, maces and rifles in some teams.

The sport has since evolved to include competitive displays worldwide. Some categories include basic gymnastic and acrobatic elements, but teams still love to join a parade to show off their skills.

Performance cheerleading is still relatively new in South Africa, but popular around the world, and largely associated with sporting events.

Performance cheer, also known as dance, consists of team routines where competitors perform choreographed dances in three different categories – pom, hip hop and jazz – accompanied by high-energy music.

Should you be interested in joining the team, contact Coach Wiezy on WhatsApp on 081 5105042 or midsouthcoastcrew@gmail.com
