Fun and flair at feel-good sports day
The highlight of the day, aside from some heartfelt speeches, was the tug o war between the women (many) and men (not so many).
Friendly rivalries came to the fore at Riversmead Poultry Farm’s recent day of thanks and sports day.
Held at the Albersville Astro Arena in Albersville, it involved netball, soccer, padel, tug o war, hula-hoop twist-offs, sack races and more.

The netball action was fast-paced and vociferously supported.
The winning team comprised Lungiswa Mkhatshulwa, Nombini Xakeka, Buseka Qazo, Nomzamo Nyawuza, Sxolisiwe Majola, Yandiswa Mosiwa, Yoneka Sishaka, Phatiswa Mhlana and Awodwa Bhubhani.

The soccer was just as frenetic, with action on both courts electric and entertaining.
Auto-Cutter FC proved dominant on the day, the team consisting of Mzambiya Ntlokwana, Bonga Maqane, Lwando Vellem, Patuxolo Matutumba, Aphiwe Bhekna, Nkosingiphile Gumede, Bhekithemba Ndayeni and Mauzeni Somhlaba.

The highlight of the day, aside from some heartfelt speeches, was the tug o war between the women (many) and men (not so many).
It was difficult to say whether or not the men, led by company owner Paul Apostolides, were being diplomatic in not winning, or if the girl power was just too strong.

Suffice it is to say, the celebrations when the women won could be heard from quite a way off, leaving the men with wry grins and much shaking of heads.
