Interprov action awaits for top South Coast golfers

The respective tournaments will provide a great opportunity for the players to engage in some matchplay golf.

Six South Coast golfers will be in South African Interprovincial action soon.

Three have been chosen for the KZN mid-amateur team, namely Gavin Sole (Southbroom), Jean-Marc Bouic (Southbroom) and Jan McDermott (Umdoni Park).

Three will play for the KZN Country Districts team, these being Koos Jacobs (Umdoni Park), Cameron Olivant (Port Shepstone) and Graham Sole (Southbroom).

Gavin is a veteran of countless IPTs, having played for KZN, country districts and mid-amateur teams, with the latter his preferred option nowadays.

Jean-Marc has previously captained the country districts team, but has been a stalwart of the mid-amateur team in the past few years.

Jan has also played numerous times for both the country districts and mid-amateur teams.

The mid-am IPT takes place at Royal Johannesburg (West) from October 6 to 10. The locals will meet up with former South Coasters who will be playing for Gauteng North, in Andrew Curlewis (Margate) and Ryno van Niekerk (Port Shepstone).

The full team is captain Greg Upneck (Zimbali), Jean-Marc Bouic (Southbroom), Gitesh Maharaj (Toti), Clayton Mansfield (Mount Edgecombe CC), Jan McDermott (Umdoni), Grant Olivier (Drak Gardens), Gavin Sole (Southbroom) and Kalvin van Rensburg (Toti).

Koos has played in the SACD tournament in the distant past, but is now is becoming a key player in the KZN country districts team.

Cameron and Graham make their debut for the country districts team this year.

The SA Country Districts tournament will be played at Royal Port Alfred GC from September 15-19.

The team consists of captain Wikus Solms (Vryheid), Jarred Good (Richards Bay), Koos Jacobs (Umdoni Park), Brandon Jones (Richards Bay), Cameron Olivant (Port Shepstone), Ashley Pauls (Kokstad), Graham Sole (Southbroom) and Lusanda Zoni (Kilbarchan).
