Sapphire marathon awaits runners in Amanzimtoti this Sunday
The event is a Comrades and Two Oceans Marathon qualifier.
Sapphire Coast Tourism and Amanzimtoti Athletics Club announced that the Sapphire Coast Marathon has officially been recognised as a KZN Athletics 42.2km championship.
This popular marathon will take place in Amanzimtoti this Sunday (26th).
The event is also a Comrades and Two Oceans Marathon qualifier, and welcomes four experienced pacers who will guide runners on the day.
“We’re incredibly proud of how this event continues to grow,” said Dore Uys of Amanzimtoti Athletics Club.
“The addition of the KZNA Championship and live streaming elevates the Sapphire Coast Marathon to a new level, while our dedicated pacers and community partnerships make it a truly inclusive and memorable experience for every runner.”
The 10km race pacer is Umar Randeree (Sub 1 Hour). He is dedicated runner and Team Vitality pacer for two years. He brings energy and enthusiasm to his 10km bus. Having recently spent eight months training in Kenya, he’s ready to help runners hit that sub-60-minute mark while keeping the atmosphere light and fun.
The 21.1km race pacer is Njabulo Zuma (2h20 Bus). He is also part of Team Vitality’s pacing crew, and is known for his consistency and motivational spirit. His 2-hour-20 bus is perfect for runners chasing a steady half-marathon finish in a supportive environment.
The 42.2km race pacer is Simphiwe ‘Mshishi’ Mngwengwe (3h40 Bus). He is an accomplished marathoner and ultra-distance athlete who has an impressive pacing record across South Africa’s major races. His sub-3:40 bus is aimed at serious runners chasing qualifying times with precision and encouragement.
Lastly, the 42.2km race pacer is Sbo Zindela (4h20 Bus). A long-time Amanzimtoti Athletics Club pacer, Sbo has previously led successful buses at the Sapphire Coast Marathon and Galleria Mall Challenge. His friendly, reliable style ensures every runner feels supported right to the finish.
