Taylor-made to save goals in outdoor hockey league

The young goalkeeper is making a name for herself.

It’s a brave person who dons the hockey goalkeeper kit. It’s next-level impressive when that same person can hold their nerve in a tense penalty shootout.

That’s what Taylor Burmeister managed in the recently concluded DPL outdoor hockey league in Durban.

This is a private franchise outdoor hockey league, with six teams competing in tournament format, featuring leading youth players from KZN’s inland and coastal regions.

The tournament included 750 players from 85+ schools, competing in U12 to U18 divisions.

Taylor was drafted as goalkeeper for the U14 Raptors and delivered a standout performance.

In the semi-finals, she helped her team win a tense penalty shootout against the All Stars.

The Raptors then defeated the Royals 2-0 in the final to claim the U14 title.

To top it all off, Taylor was named goalkeeper of the tournament for the U14 division, well-deserved recognition of her talent, composure under pressure and impact on the game.

Raptors coach Erin McCartney congratulates Taylor Burmeister on winning U14 goalkeeper of the tournament.
