Liverpool golfers take derby spoils at Port Shepstone Country Club
Some of the banter flew further than the golf shots. It was that kind of day.
It would appear the momentum may finally have swung for beleaguered Liverpool Football Club fans.
Golfers who support Liverpool took on their Manchester United counterparts on the beautiful green golf course that is Port Shepstone Country Club.
Led by diehard fan Wes Scholtz, and boasting a team of genuine Liverpool supporters, they overcame the very real threat of their Manchester United counterparts.
To successfully defend this title is no mean feat and, with bragging rights for another year secure, they did not mind too much when Michael Owen (also known as McAllistair Korah) photobombed the trophy celebration picture.
There’s been talk of him rejoining the Reds next year but it might be a case of ‘not so fast’.
With the glow of glory still resting gently on the triumphant golfers, the Liverpool football team defeated West Ham 2-0 away to keep the campaign, which had been unravelling in spectacular fashion, on track.
This came after a series of horrid defeats, so bad fans were already writing off the season and saying ‘next year’.
But with log leaders Arsenal drawing with Chelsea, suddenly Liverpool are only (only!) nine points adrift, and only four behind second-placed Manchester City.
Who has more chance of success? Liverpool catching Arsenal, or McAllistair rejoining his old teammates? What will happen is anyone’s guess – we will know next year sometime.
In the meantime, McAllistair has been making some frantic calls, but Michael Owen is not answering and neither are Philippe Coutinho nor Fernando Torres.
