South Coast Striders’ women put best foot forward
The club has had members take part in various marathons of late.
It was a standout performance from South Coast Striders at the recent Best of the Best Marathon in Durban, competing in extremely hot weather and producing solid results across multiple distances.
Eleven Striders lined up for the full marathon, with the club’s women leading the charge.
Jade du Toit secured an impressive 12th place overall in the women’s category, closely followed by Grace Mortimer in 13th.
Wonder Zungu celebrated a significant milestone by achieving his Comrades Marathon qualifying time.
Peter Chidzungu, who is usually seen competing at the sharp end of races, took on a different responsibility this time.
Stepping away from chasing a podium position, he paced Victoria Forshaw to a sub 4:30 finish.
It was a clear display of club spirit, showing that success is not only about personal results, but also about helping others achieve their goals.
In Umzumbe, Striders also impressed in the Alfred Lushaba Half Marathon and 10km events.
Peter claimed second place overall in the 21km, with Terrence Cele finishing fourth.
