Stellar golf for Village Eagles at Umdoni Golf Club

The 56 golfers produced some top class golf.

Weather forecasting is not a perfect science, and on April 7, this certainly was the case for the Village Eagles.

Expecting cloudy weather with occasional rain, the Village Eagles arrived at Umdoni Golf Club and as if they had ordered it, the skies turned blue and clouds started leaving for their annual holiday. A beautiful day for golf was what the Eagles got.

Umdoni Golf Club added to the enjoyment by gifting the Eagles with a course in perfect condition. Thanks goes to the staff and management.

So with everything going for them, the 56 golfers produced some top class golf. Winning the Best Male golfer trophy was Mick Crosby on 44 individual points and winning the Best Lady golfer trophy was Sarie Hall on 42 points. The handicapper’s scissors have been sent for sharpening.

Winners of the Village Eagles trophy for their outstanding performance were Rob Symons, Rick St John, Claudio Bellato and Terry Bacchus with an alliance score of 96.

The most coveted trophy is the Stones Trophy and the skillful players who carried this trophy home were Neville Lloyd, Tony Butler, Dave Geils and Eddie Matthews.

Under a threat of serious injury, I reveal their score

as being 71 hard earned Stableford points.

Keith Findlay stepped in at the last minutes to perform the fines master duties and he did this as if he was a professional. Also stepping up to the plate was Pat White who collated the results. Thanks guys. Altogether a good day was had by all.

The Eagles look forward to their game at Umkomaas next month.
