Shelly Beach Ski Boat Club took top spot in the Umkomaas Ski Boat Club’s interclub competition recently.
The team comprised Brandon Hooke, Lyle Taylor and Leon Garbade.
The local club finished on a staggering 923.3 points. Taking second spot was Pennington on 384.41, Natal Association came third on 247.24, Warnerdoone placed fourth on 122.31 and Umkomaas fifth on 111 points.

Lyle Taylor was the top angler in the competition.
“We had a good team. We caught so many different species that by the last day it was difficult for anyone to catch us. The club hasn’t won an interclub for many years and to finally bring one back to Shelly Beach was super special,” said Brandon Hooke.

Local deep sea fishing has been exceptional, offering premier game and bottom fishing.
Stompie Koekemoer from KZN Fishing Guides said anglers have been getting some good catches of rockcod, couta, tuna, and bottom fishing.|
On the surf side, a nice size couta was caught at The Block in Port Shepstone. There were reports of rockcod, shad and sharks off Margate Pier and Uvongo.
Congratulations to Johan Coetzer who won a lucky draw hosted by Sensational Deep Sea Charters recently. It was open to all clients who had booked trips with the fishing charter.
Also, the sardines have started teasing the Eastern Cape and KZN coastlines since early last week.
