Another fabulous Margate Week bowls tournament has come and gone, with it proving to be a resounding success.

The eagerly anticipated event, now in its 58th edition, was sponsored by Hollywoodbets and saw bowlers came from near and far.

It attracted 32 teams of four. Bob Elliott, who has been a member of Margate BC since 1990, and has been playing in the tournament for 20 years, had the honour of delivering the first bowl, to get things under way.

Fun and flair at Margate Bowls Week, sponsored by Hollywoodbets.

The winning team was a local one, with The Bell bowlers Sharolyn Dacey, Petro Gibbons, Howard Gibbons and Steve O’Moore taking the honours this time after enjoying some fabulous form on the greens.

Runners-up were Bob Elliott, Alf Schberg, Koos van Tonder and Russell Elliott.

In third place were Cleve Walker, Julie Walker, Ann Taylor and Ian Hunter.

During the tournament a ‘spider’ competition was played at Southbroom and Margate, which saw R2500 raised for South Coast Hospice.

On ‘Whacky Wednesday’ bowlers arrived in hilarious outfits, adding to the fun and festivity of the week.

Hollywoodbets added to the vibe and banter by adding their own team. The club was deeply grateful for their sponsorship.

Margate BC also thanked Southbroom BC for helping host this prestigious event, which draws folk to the region, helping boost local business.
