Sharks call up for school stars

It's an opportunity to take the game to the next level.

Five South Coast rugby players have been chosen for various Sharks’ schools rugby teams.

Their hard work, dedication and skill has paid off and they will get the chance to take it to the next level soon.

Kiaen Banjo (Port Shepstone High) on the charge.

Kiaen Banjo, who captains the Port Shepstone High first team, has been selected as hooker for the KZN U18 team for Reitz Week.

He also mixes it up as a loose forward on occasion, and sometimes in the backline when needed, so is an extremely versatile player.

Dylan Strydom on the move for Suid-Natal High.
Hendrik Thomas (Suid-Natal Primary) on the run for Suid-Natal Primary.

Over and above this, Kiaen has also been selected for an invitational team to tour Italy in December, a trip that will cost around R60 000. Any sponsorship would be appreciated. Contact 084 9201008.

Kiaen is joined in the Reitz Week team by two players from Suid-Natal High, namely Dylan Strydom (also hooker) and Deedrick Gericke, a lively scrumhalf, who can also perform kicking duties.

Helene Robbertse (Suid-Natal High) looks to get the backline away.

Helené Robbertse (Suid-Natal High), also a scrum-half, has been selected for the girls U18 provincial training squad.

It’s the second consecutive year that Helené and Dylan, who is the captain for Suidies, have been awarded provincial colours.

Deedrick Gericke (Suid-Natal High) displays his sublime passing skills.

In the primary school ranks, powerhouse Hendrik Thomas (Suid-Natal Primary) has been selected for the U13 Craven Week Sharks Primary Schools’ team at lock.

He can also play 8th man and even centre, such is his pace and athleticism.
