South Coast Warriors go down in Ballito

The firsts and seconds lost by narrow margins.

The South Coast Warriors endured a bit of a bumpy away fixture against Ballito on May 30.

Both teams (firsts and seconds) lost by narrow margins, less than a converted try for the firsts and less than a penalty for the seconds.

The firsts were always going to be up against it, with five senior players missing either through injury or work commitments.

The seconds had a sparse bench with the result that almost everyone played the full 80 minutes, a bit like rugby in the ’80s.

At the end of it all, the firsts lost 22-17, with tries scored by AJ Pienaar, Rowan Gasa and Liyema Gangi. The one conversion came via the boot of Leo van der Westhuizen.

Before that the seconds lost 19-17, with tries scored by Barry de Beer, Tsepo Cele and Athenkosi Bekelephi. Gareth Selkon slotted one conversion.
