Riders gear up for Solstice Race in Scottburgh

The course features flowing single-track sections, coastal forest trails, farm roads, technical descents, challenging climbs and spectacular ocean and countryside views.

It’s time for the Renishaw Solstice Race which takes place on June 20. The Scottburgh event will showcase a newly developed coastal forest network for trail running, mountain biking, hiking and nature-based experiences.

The trail network starts at Crocworld Adventure and Conservation Centre, connecting into a broader outdoor ecosystem stretching through Renishaw Coastal Precinct and surrounding areas, with more than 100km of trails already developed and maintained through collaboration with local partners and sporting clubs.

Developed by the team from Badger’s Cycling and Sports Centre, the trails form part of a broader vision to transform this into a leading adventure and lifestyle destination.

The event is hosted by Scottburgh Cycling Club and forms part of the KwaZulu-Natal Mountain Biking Series and has been classified as a KZN Super Classic Race.

Athletes can expect a dynamic course featuring: flowing single-track sections, coastal forest trails, farm roads, technical descents, challenging climbs and spectacular ocean and countryside views.

The flagship 45km cycling route includes about 1000m of elevation gain, providing a significant challenge for competitive riders while rewarding participants with breath-taking scenery.

Visitors attending the event can also enjoy food stalls, family entertainment, children’s activities and full access to Crocworld’s attractions.
