Soccer tournament showcases youth talent

Gubhuza FC was crowned the champion of the tournament and won R6 000 and a soccer kit.

Sports organiser Mabutho Ngubo hosted the first-ever soccer tournament for the Gubhuza community near St Faiths recently.

The event served as a powerful platform to showcase local youth talent. The tournament was built on a vital mission demonstrating to the broader youth community that active participation in sport is an effective vehicle for keeping youngsters off the streets and from drugs.

The event opened with a moving, patriotic display of unity as the attendees sang the national anthem.

Six teams participated: Black Pool, Ncazolo FC, Gubhuza FC, Malunguza United, Gubhuza Youngsters and Mabheleni United.

Ncazolo FC and Gubhuza FC made it to the finals. Gubhuza FC was crowned the champion of the tournament and won R6 000 and a soccer kit (soccer jerseys, soccer ball, 15 medals and a trophy).
