Jaguars denied despite brave fight at Southern KZN junior cricket tournament

The girls played some hugely entertaining cricket.

School holidays saw Clinton Moodley send two academy teams to play in the Southern KZN Junior Winter tournament in Port Shepstone last week.

The main team, CMCA, battled it out in the A section against Snipers and Challengers.

There were some highs and lows and unfortunately they narrowly missed out on making it to the final.

Fast bowler Valerie du Plooy gives it her all for CMCA Jaguars.

The CMCA Jaguars, comprising all girls, played some sparkling cricket and progressed to the B section final where they faced the Port Shepstone Hub team.

Jaguars let themselves down a bit with the bat, making only 81, but then took five wickets for only four runs to really set the cat among the pigeons.

Hayley Stanton took three wickets and Haffiya Ebrahim two to give the Jaguars a real chance.

Janel Gerber shows solid defence.

However, Hub didn’t lose another wicket and won the match in the end. But it was exciting to watch and the Jaguars showed wonderful fighting spirit.
Jaguars: Stefanie Gerber, Haffiya Ebrahim, Abegael Hall, Timera Naicker, Valerie du Plooy, Hayley Stanton, Janel Gerber, Brooklyn Landers, Saiesha Govender, Ayabonga Ncanana, Zinhle Phosa, Evie du Plessis, Jana Gerber.

CMCA: Blake Vincent, Caleb Turner, Neil Bezuidenhout, Liam Jackson, Hunter Schreiner, Ganeshan Govender, Sethu Mthembu, Divan van Rooyen, James Imray, Valerie du Plooy, Rocco Andrews.
