Sportweni winter cricket came to the South Coast this holiday, with local team Southern KZN U19s getting the opportunity to play against three visiting teams.
The teams in question were Waterstone College from Kibler Park in Johannesburg, St Declan’s from Alberton and Hoërskool Transvalia from Vanderbijlpark.
Three cracking games took place, with Skzn winning all three – the first was in a thrilling super over, the second a fairly comfortable win by five wickets, and the third also a reasonably comfortable although high-scoring affair.
The squad comprised Hercue de Bruin, Shivaar Sivpresad, Joash Trebeni, Johar Maharaj, Waheed Khan, Marcel du Toit, Jordan Gopaul, Liam Scholtz, Uminathi Mdleko, Sahl Peerbhay, Qhamani Mkhutshwa, Vuvu Gumede and Khulu Mlondo.
There were solid performances from most of the players, with a highlight being Liam Scholtz’s boundary off the last ball to win the Super Over.
