Support golf day to raise funds for SA Bone Marrow Registry
Funds raised will help the registry continue connecting patients with potentially life-saving stem cell donors.
The South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR) will host its first-ever Inter-provincial Charity Golf Day to raise R500 000 for its Patient Assistance Programme, donor recruitment, and tissue typing of potential stem cell donors.
Golfers will tee off at the Umdoni Park Golf Club in KZN and Langebaan Country Club in the Western Cape on Saturday, September 19.
The two provinces will compete to see which region can raise the most funds for the registry.
Dr Marietta Hopley, Head of Sustainability for the SABMR, said every Rand raised will help the registry continue connecting patients with potentially life-saving stem cell donors, while growing a registry that better reflects South Africa’s population.
As a non-government-funded non-profit organisation, the SABMR relies on fundraising and donations from individuals, corporates and the public.
Hopley is calling on businesses and individuals to support the golf day by participating on the day, getting involved as a sponsor or making a donation towards the cause.
For KZN at the Umdoni Golf Club – staggered start from 06:30.
For bookings and more info, email Marietta.hopley@sabmr.co.za or Kapil.premchand@sabmr.co.za. Various sponsorship opportunities are also available.
