No money for roads but money for parties
This only serves to remind us that an election is looming.

SOUTH Coast motorists will heave a collective sigh of despair when they learn that the KwaZulu-Natal Transport Department has budgeted R12-million for celebrations.
According to a written response to the province’s Finance Portfolio Committee the department revealed that it has budgeted the money to be spent on functions to celebrate bridge openings, sod turnings and wellness days.
A whopping R1-million will be spent on the opening of the Ugu P69 festivities.
The South Coast’s aging roads are literally falling into (pot) holes and the surfaces are cracking.
We need road maintenance not extravagant parties.
This only serves to remind us that an election is looming.
So in the run-up to the 2014 elections we can expect to see more wastage of funds rather than projects that address the real needs of communities.
