This opening rocked!

The former Idol produced a stellar performance.

SINGER, songwriter and Idols SA 2009 winner Jason Hartman performed before a cheering crowd at the official opening of the new Criterion Yamaha premises at Spiller’s Wharf last weekend.

Jason, former super bike racer Dave Estment and the founding director of the International Anti-Poaching Foundation, Damien Mander took part in the 10 000km ‘Rock ‘n Ride for Rhino’ tour to raise funds for the preservation of rhinos, which are under severe threat due to poaching.

The team, which also included Emma van Wyk, Scott Hartman and Quintin Askes, has travelled all over South Africa in order to raise funds and awareness of the plight of rhinos. The intrepid trio set off in April and finished in time to be part of the official opening of the new Criterion Yamaha premises.

The opening was followed by Jason’s fund-raising concert. He has harnessed his talents as a musician to spread the conservation message, performing at many venues to generate interest and enthusiasm.
