Electricity, water and rates increases lie ahead
The draft budgets are out for public consultation. Householders are advised to go and assess them.
SOUTH Coast ratepayers can expect significant increases in the cost of electricity, water, sanitation and rates.
In draft budget reports presented by Hibiscus Coast and Ugu municipalities at executive committee meetings the mayors said increases were on the cards.
Rates look set to go up by seven percent, while water and sanitation costs will increase by five and 5,5 percent.
Consumers who get their electricity supply from HCM can expect a 7,39 percent hike.
While they (the mayors) said every effort had been made to keep proposed increases to a minimum – ratepayers and consumers will be not be easily convinced.
