It has been 20 years since our first democratic elections were held.

WITH less than a week to go before the May 7 elections, political parties will be out in force this weekend to try and sway voters.

It has been 20 years since our first democratic elections were held.

Against all odds those elections went off peacefully.

We were hailed as Africa’s rainbow nation under the guidance of President Nelson Mandela.

This newspaper urges South Coasters to go and cast their vote.

And we urge them to vote with their guts.

Remember that wonderful quote by George Bernard Shaw: ‘A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul’.

If you don’t vote – you can’t complain about the government.
