FISH on the River was established in 2004 and is situated at Spiller’s Wharf on the south bank of the Mzimkhulu River. Fish on the River in Port Shepstone was founded with one thought in mind – to serve the finest, high quality food available, simply prepared and served at a decent price.
Walk in and place your order at the till, where you can choose from an assortment of seafood such as hake, calamari, snoek or prawns, all served with crispy fried chips. Neptune’s Platter and Catch of the Day are popular orders. Both dishes are served with either lemon parsley and butter or a creamy peri peri sauce.
For the health conscious, generous prawn or calamari salads are on offer. Try the restaurant’s new Seafood Pot which consists of a medley of grilled seafood, smothered in a creamy lemon parsley sauce, served in a pot with a choice of chips or spiced rice.
The restaurant also offers more spicy dishes from its Mariners’ Marsala menu, comprising seafood prepared with traditional Indian flavours. Patrons can dine inside the nautical themed restaurant or take advantage of its large deck, offering breathtaking river views.
