Cable theft costs

HIBISCUS Coast Municipality and Eskom are being inundated with complaints from the public about power outages.

Many of these are the result of cable theft which is costing millions to repair.

Cable theft damages the power infrastructure and power surges linked to cable theft destroy household appliances.

But apart from the costs, lives can be lost if the uninsulated electrical wires are touched.

Oslo Beach residents are furious that illegal electricity connections have plunged the area into darkness on numerous occasions.

They have laid the blame with students living in a commune.

Action must be taken.
