Stop illegal dumping

Those responsible must be fined and should also be responsible for removing the rubbish that was dumped.

ILLEGAL dumping has become a major concern in most South Coast towns.

Hibiscus Coast Municipality must investigate the illegal dump sites and then act swiftly and decisively to ensure a clean environment.

Those responsible must be fined and should also be responsible for removing the rubbish that was dumped.

And if they cannot remove the garbage they must bear the removal costs.

This illegal dumping poses a serious threat to public health and safety and it has a negative impact on plants and wildlife.

Rodents, snakes and mosquitoes are also attracted to such sites.

Dumping attracts criminal activity – overgrown bush and grass provides the perfect hideaway. Property values too, will be decreased.

Communities need to assist the municipality if they see anyone dumping. Take down the vehicle’s registration number and report it.
