‘Beat of the street’ really cooks

Local service clubs put on an excellent performance.

THE Rotary Club of Shelly Beach held its fourth annual melodrama entitled ‘The Beat of the Street’ at Port Shepstone Civic Centre last week.

The comedy stage show comprised various skits, parodying the rivalry between a typically South African and a typically Indian restaurant, across the street from each other, on Baker Street.

It showcased the shenanigans taking place between the two restaurants in order to drum up support for their respective businesses, and how they eventually worked together to liven up the Baker Street precinct.

Various well-known members of Margate Round Table, Hibiscus Retirement Village, Moths, Hibiscus Rotary and Port Shepstone Rotary took to the stage acting totally out of their comfort zone.

It was definitely an evening of fun, fellowship and laughter! The success of this melodrama, like the previous three, has enabled a substantial sum of money to be raised, which has been distributed to various charities.

Many hours of hard work and practice has gone into the staging of this production and kudos go to producer, Vanessa Howard-Tripp. CLICK HERE FOR MORE PHOTOS
