Tacky towns boast new signs

The same grim picture greets visitors as they enter most South Coast towns.

INSTEAD of fixing the crumbling infrastructure, Hibiscus Coast Municipality is looking for a service provider to erect welcome signs.

Margate recently received its new welcome board.

Not many people have actually seen it as it is quite obscured. It can be found next to a service station sign at the crossroads entrance.

What you can’t help noticing however, is the decrepit bus shelter across the road along with the broken paving and kerbs, the debris strewn along the lagoon and the potholed road.

And heaven forbid beachgoers should want to use the toilet, they can’t.

The same grim picture greets visitors as they enter most South Coast towns – just look at the terrible fencing along the east side of the main road as you enter Port Shepstone.

But don’t despair as those tacky towns will soon boast new welcome signs.
