AFTER 12 years of school more than half a million pupils began writing their matric exams this week.
The road to this year’s final examinations has been a relatively smooth one for the Education Department’s Ugu District, although it was reported that police and the army were on standby to assist in any emergency.
Last year the South Coast was battered by heavy rain and swollen rivers making it impossible for some pupils to get to their schools to write their papers.
The Class of 2014 is wished all the best as the curtain closes on their 12-year chapter.
