Safety first for holiday crowds

It is the season to be jolly but please remember that criminals don't take a holiday break.

FESTIVE season shopping, queueing and partying started in earnest this week as hundreds headed for the beaches and shopping malls.

Roads are becoming jammed with traffic.

Local authorities have put plans in place to keep visitors safe.

Protection services will be patrolling the beachfronts while traffic officials will be out in full force setting up roadblocks aimed especially at preventing drunk-driving.

Commuters are urged to refuse to travel with drivers who are intoxicated.

Parents need to make sure their children don’t leave their sight at the beach. And don’t swim at unprotected beaches.

It is the season to be jolly but please remember that criminals don’t take a holiday break.

Stay safe everyone.
