Parents must take part

It is the parents' duty to take ownership of their children's education by getting involved in the SGBs.

PARENTS and communities are urged to take part in the upcoming School Governing Bodies’ (SGB) elections.

Schools have been sending out notices and reminders to parents that the three-year term of the current KwaZulu-Natal members is nearing an end.

This is a legislative mandate enshrined in the South African Schools’ Act.

SGBs are allocated many tasks including the recommendation of candidates for promotion posts through the interview committee. Parents need to know that it is imperative that they need to apply due diligence during the selection process to maintain stability at their schools.
