Treat women with care

Our country has a poor track record when it comes to taking care of its women.

AUGUST is Women’s Month, yet our front page story is about the brutal murder of an innocent woman.

It’s just appalling how women are treated in this country. And in others around the world, too, but South Africa seems to have a real problem in this regard.

What goes through the mind of someone who can go through with such a deed? Is there no compassion? No caring?

Not sure we will ever know.

Accidents

The other shocking issue is that of road deaths, and the South Coast is no exception.

It’s just unbelievable how many there are. Our paramedics and rescue workers are already under pressure in many regards.

If motorists just slowed down, it would make the situation so much better for everyone.

Also, pedestrians need to stay off highways.

There are a number of dangerous spots about which the Herald receives many calls.

It seems the authorities tend to turn a blind eye to these, or are just under-resourced in terms of being to do anything about it.

One that comes to mind is the section immediately north of the Mzimkhulu River bridge in Port Shepstone.

It has become an unofficial ‘stop off’ point – but is actually becoming a major problem.
