Editor's note

Complaints must be addressed

Let's appreciate what we have.

SOUTH Coasters are a hardy bunch, and can tolerate a lot.

But there are certain things which have really gotten the goat of many.

A quick glance at comments to stories on our website and on our letters’ page reveals much about what people are thinking – and what makes them mad.

It seems crime, while obviously an extremely worrying thing, is not uppermost in most peoples’ minds.

(Perhaps people have accepted it and just hope for the best. For many it’s just sad.)

No, rather it’s things like very bad driving from traffic authorities who should know better (and others) such as illegal U-turns on the highway.

Bad driving is a major irritant for many South Coasters. It seems everyone is in such a hurry.

On another note, those perceived not to be doing their jobs come in for a fair amount of stick.

Then there’s the stinky issue of effluent polluting our water systems. And of course the lack of water.

Yes, it’s a time of drought, but please keep what we have clean.

Monkeys. Love them or hate them, they generate chatter. Both in the trees and online.

On a positive note, many readers send photographs of our beautiful region.

A friend currently working in Norway phoned recently. “You still have load-shedding?” he quipped.

Truth be told, he said he can’t wait to get back to ‘Africa’.

Once it’s in your blood, it’s tough to get it out, he said.

Let’s appreciate what we have.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
