Clampdown

We need to protect the country's 3 000 km coastline.

ENVIRONMENTAL inspectors handed warning notices to beachfront property owners in Shelly Beach last weekend.

The Integrated Coastal Management Act makes it an offence to conduct any development within 100 metres of the high water mark.

More than 20 Shelly Beach property owners will now have to repair or remove illegal structures which encroach into the Admiralty Reserve.

The move is to be welcomed as these illegal fences, buildings and pathways create the potential for a significant, negative impact on our coastal environment.

We need to protect the country’s 3 000 km coastline.
