Editor's note

There are still good Samaritans

There are still people who care.

IF you heard dogs barking and your intercom buzzing loudly in the early hours what would you do?

Many of us would stay safely indoors.

But thankfully for a 70-year-old farmer who had been attacked and abducted, a brave homeowner went to investigate.

Home invaders had broken into the farmhouse in the Oribi Flats area at about midnight.

Fearing they would hurt his wife the farmer complied with their demands. His frail wife was locked in a bedroom.

He was then bound and thrown into the back of his motor car and eventually dumped near the sugar mill.

Highly traumatised he staggered to nearby properties – no one came to his help until he reached the home of his good Samaritan.

It is comforting to know there are still people who care.
