THE selfish conduct of taxi operators in Port Shepstone has been condemned by MEC for Trasport, Willies Mchunu.
They embarked on strike action and went on the warpath to protest against security measures that have been introduced at the main rank.
The taxi operators barricaded roads and intimidated commuters who turned to buses for transport.
It is quite ludicrous that the operators are against security measures such as the installation of CCTV cameras, controlled access and additional security staff.
These efforts to safeguard commuters and taxi drivers should have been welcomed.
The operators’ actions begs the question: What is behind the protest?
