Summer set to sizzle
A packed holiday programme will keep holidaymakers of all ages happy this season.
DECEMBER is upon us – and so is the summer holiday season, beginning with the Coca Cola Student Summer Happening at Margate beach, from December 4 to 7, from 10am to 4pm daily.
Something for the petrol heads will be the VW beach happenings, at Ramsgate on December 13, Southbroom on December 14 and Margate on December 15, from 10am to 4pm daily. There will be games, competitions and concourse displays.The Jaguar Summer concourse display will be at St Michael’s on December 9, 10 and 11. Nissan Navara will host a chill lounge at Margate beach on December 30 and St Michael’s beach on January 3. Head for Dezzi’s Raceway for the KwaZulu-Natal drags meeting from December 16 to 18.
Join the Monster Marine Meander, from Umzumbe beach on Sunday, December 11, at 7am. It ends at Hibberdene, 5,5km away from the start.
Margate Mardi Gras street parties are legendary and will take place in the main street of the town on December 7, 14, 21 and 28 and on January 4, from 6pm.
Gardeners shouldn’t miss the South Coast Orchid and Exotic Plant Fair at Stephward Estate, Uvongo, on December 9 and 10.
Orca’s Grill Festival offers beach sport and competitions at Sunwich Port beach on December 9, 10 and 11, from 10am to 4pm.
The Harvester Truck rolls into town to stage Harvest Gospel Beach Festivals at Margate on December 9, Hibberdene on December 10, Sunwich Port on December 15 and Port Edward on December 17, at 6pm.
Don’t miss the Summer Heat model and talent show at the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino Resort on December 10 and 11.
Treasure hunts and beach sport make up the Coo-ee Summer Tour beach programmes. Catch the tour at Margate on December 13, Scottburgh on December 15, Margate on December 16, Scottburgh on December 24, Hibberdene on December 26, Ramsgate on December 27, Port Edward on December 29 and Sunwich Port on December 31.
KFC takes beach cricket to a new level at Ramsgate beach on December 16 and Margate beach on December 17, from 10am to 4pm.
The national Fuzetea Summer tour hits the South Coast this season to entertain beachgoers at Ramsgate on December 10, Scottburgh on December 11, Margate on December 12 and Southbroom on December 13.
Christmas Beach Blitz Giveaway promoters will be out and about at Ramsgate on December 15, Scottburgh on December 16, Uvongo on December 17 and Margate on December 18.
Inflatable fun and warrior races are just part of the action when the Coca Cola Summer Tour reaches our beaches. Join the games and sports at Umtentweni on December 18, Southbroom on December 19, Margate on December 20, Ramsgate on December 21, St Michael’s on December 23, Margate on December 27 and Scottburgh on December 28 and January 4.
Sing Christmas carols at Scottburgh beach on December 22 from 3pm to 7pm and at Margate beach on December 23 at 7pm. Father Christmas and the One Way Christmas Truck will bring Christmas cheer and treats to Nzimakwe on December 19 at 3pm, Margate Airport on December 20 at 7pm, Ramsgate beach on December 21 at 7pm and Sunwich Port beach on December 22 at 7pm. There will be a Christmas market at Relton Hall, Pennington, on December 16 from 9am to 3.30pm and a Mardi Gras and Christmas market in Scott Street, Scottburgh on December 18 from 9am to 3.30pm.
eNCA will broadcast live from Margate beach on December 29 from 8am to 5pm. There will be live crossings to East Coast Radio at the Hisense Summer Fest, at Margate beach from December 21 to 23 from 10am to 4pm. The Ola Summer Tour offers games and sport at Southport on December 24 and at Sunwich Port on December 29 and 30. Chill out at the Absa Chill Lounge on December 28 and 29 from 10am to 4pm. The Tiago’s beach sport festival is at St Michael’s on December 30 from 10am to 4pm.
Listen to Leon Goosen Gospel Rock at the Afrikaans Music Festival at Port Edward beach on December 23 and 24 from 2pm to 6pm. Prime Circle and Watershed will be at San Lameer Country Club on December 29. Doors open at 5.3opm and show starts at 7pm. Contact 039 3130111.
There are some more holiday tours on offer. Dairy Maid will entertain the crowds at Scottburgh on December 14 and 22 and at Southport on December 23 from 10am to 4pm. Frankie’s Summer complete with chill zone beach lounge will be at Hibberdene on December 27, Southport on December 28, Ramsgate on December 29, Port Edward on December 30, Margate on December 31, Pennington on January 1 and Scottburgh on January 2, from 10am to 4pm.
Something a little different will be the ProNutro bench press compo at Scottburgh beach on December 22.
Finally, welcome the new year at the Southbroom New Year’s Eve party, featuring some of the hottest DJs in South Africa at Southbroom beach on December 31, from 6pm.
