Royal Moscow Ballet will be returning to South Africa in March  with a programme paying tribute to great Russia composer  Pyotr Tchaikovsky, which comes to Durban for two shows only on Saturday, March 10 – at 2pm and 6pm. Act One features: A Serenade for Strings – aone act Ballet with choreography by Anatoly Emelianov; Act Two features the Black Pas de Deux from the ballet, Swan Lake; and a one Act Ballet Franceska Da Rimini which premieres in South Africa, also featuring choreography by Anatoly Emelianov.

KZNPO 2018 Summer Season

This week the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra is celebrating the music of France with a thoughtful programme of beautiful French classics featuring pieces by Gabriel Fauré; Cécile Chaminade, François Borne / Georges Bizet, Claude Debussy and César Franck, for their second concert in the 2018 Word Symphony Series Summer Season.

The concert is under the baton of Canadian-Caribbean conductor Kwamé Ryan and soloist is Liesl Stoltz, an award winning South African flautist.

Free public screening of Marine-enviro doccie

Janet Solomon’s Becoming Visible

KZNSA Gallery: March 15 at 7pm

Janet Solomon – a Durban artist and filmmaker – will be screening her movie, Becoming Visible about the impact of noise exposure from marine surveys on sea species, at the KZNSA Gallery on Thursday 15 March at 7pm.

Becoming Visible investigates the risks posed by unilateral and indiscriminate traumatising noise exposure from marine seismic surveys to many marine species. The 33 minute film also looks at the vulnerability of fishery-based livelihoods to these impacts, – explains Solomon.

The KZN public premiere of Becoming Visible will take place at the KZNSA Gallery in Durban’s Glenwood on 15 March 15 at 7pm.

The movie is an arthouse environmental documentary using a three screen display. After the screening there will be a facilitated public Q&A featuring filmmaker, Janet Solomon in conversation with Senior Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife marine ecologist, Dr Jennifer Olbers. The Gallery Cafe will stay open to serve early dinners and the bar will stay open until after the Q&A. Entrance is free, and all are welcome.

Aaron & Lisa in ‘Marriage for Dummies’

Husband and wife team Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert star in Marriage for Dummies – a hilarious survival guide for anyone brave enough to take on life’s ultimate challenge.

Before you decide to throw in the towel, take some advice as Aaron and Lisa share the secrets of marital bliss and help you come to gripe.. er grips with your partner’s annoying habits “because when it comes to marriage most of us are dummies!” Structured around the basic format of a marriage seminar, Aaron and Lisa lead the audience through the many trials and tribulations that affect all marriages. In the guise of wacky characters, they identify most of the “problems” marriages face.

Tickets for Marriage for Dummies at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre are R150 throughout. The production previews on Wednesday 21 February and opens Thursday 22 February.
