Head Out of Town: Time for ‘Our Favourite Swings’

The venue opens 90 minutes before the show for drinks.

Durban’s effervescent band Platform Jazz will present ‘Our Favourite Swings’ at the Rhumbelow theatre in Umbilo, Durban, Saturday (12th) at 8pm and Sunday (13th) at 2pm.

This time Platform Jazz teams up with fun actor/singer Bryan Hiles to bring a toe-tapping and foot-stomping programme of swing favourites and Dixie musical highlights made famous by Robbie Williams, Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra.

Latin numbers, show tunes and some original compositions are also on the menu.

The band is made up of Cathy Peacock (trumpet), Kirsten Sayers (clarinet), Jeff Robinson (sax and flute), David Solomon (trombone), Andreas Kappen (double bass) and South Africa’s jazz stars Melvin Peters (keyboard) and Bruce Baker (drums).

There are also shows next Friday (18th) and Saturday (19th) at 2pm and 8pm, as well as on Sunday (20th) at 2pm.
