Members of the research team headed by Wallace H Carothers stated that it is strong even when knitted into the sheerest of fabrics and can be washed and dried quickly. Additionally, it can be made into filaments, sheets or a variety of finished products.

One possible fashion use was to replace natural silk stockings and Du Pont was quoted as saying “the new material’s strength, durability and resistance to moisture and mildew could interest the US Army.
