12 Steps to avoiding heartburn

Prevention is often better than cure.

Almost everyone suffers from heartburn at some stage or another, and instead of reaching for a cure, why not take some advice from the Alternative Home Remedies book, compiled bu Bill Gottlieb, and perhaps prevent it from happening at all.

  • Avoid high-fat foods
  • Don’t eat big meals
  • Don’t eat before bedtime
  • Cut out coffee and tea
  • Drink fewer fizzy drinks
  • Watch out for spices
  • Ditch the chocolate
  • Loosen your belt after eating
  • Skip the spearmint and peppermint
  • Don’t drink alcohol at night
  • Slim down if you are overweight
  • Stop smoking

IMPORTANT NOTE: 

Although heartburn usually responds well to home remedies, if the problem persistss for more than a week, it is advisable to consult your doctor to rule out any serious problems.
