1980:  ‘Brick in the Wall’ is banned in SA

British rock group Pink Floyd’s hit single ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ was banned by the South African government after school children adopted the song as an anthem.

The young protestors chanted ‘We don’t want no education, we don’t want no thought control.’ but banning the song wasn’t likely to stop them singing it – or meaning it.
