  2. Confirm your block number
  3. Check your schedule here once the STAGE has been announced (every day, or when loadshedding strikes)

A brief informative summary of loadshedding – info taken from The Official Website of the eThekwini Municipality:

Load-shedding becomes necessary when the national electrical demand on the network is greater than Eskom’s capacity to supply.

EThekwini Load-shedding schedules comprise of Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 and Stage 4 emergencies, with Stage 1 being largely residential and commercial load, Stage 2 includes Stage 1 and industrial load, and Stage 3 and Stage 4 which includes the entire Durban area with the exclusion of strategic national resources.

All blocks are scheduled for a 2 hour outage with an additional half an hour contingency to cater for switch-on. Customers are only scheduled to go off once a day under Stages 1 & 2 and twice daily should a Stage 3 or Stage 4 emergency be declared.

During load-shedding customers are urged to switch off high-demand appliances like geysers, stoves, air-conditioning etc. so as to ensure that the waiting load at the time of restoration is not high.

EThekwini Electricity urges all customers to assist in reducing the electricity demand by turning off all non-essential equipment at all times.

Use ONLY what you need.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

If you are experiencing a power outage, either outside your schedule time or when Load Shedding is not active, then it is a result of a fault on the network and not because of load shedding. Please report your outage to Electricity Call centre on 080 13 13 111.
