Winkle bowlers compete in friendly tourney

Overall winners were Tokkie De Kock, Amanda Minnow and Kathy Badenhorst.

The Caltex South Coast Auto Twinkle women’s trips was played this past week at Winkle Bowling Club and again the green was filled to capacity.

The tournament was played in the normal friendly spirit by all the players who took part. A big thank you goes to the sponsors, Caltex South Coast Auto. Also to all the members who helped in the kitchen and the bar staff, who ensured the players refreshments needs were catered for. And last, but not least, a big thank you to the competition convener for ensuring the smooth running of the tournament.

Overall winners were Tokkie De Kock, Amanda Minnow and Kathy Badenhorst. First session winners were Toni Roberts, Sheila Court and Lorna Sourgen and second session winners were Julie Sutherland, Dawn Schauer and Hilary Lindsay. The 100 board winner was Carol Glaves and the mystery prize winner was Sheila Court.

The Victory Spar and Tops men’s trips was played on Wednesday, 10 December, and a good morning of bowls was had by all the competitors. Thank you to Victory Spar and Tops for its continuous support. A big thank you to the women who worked in the kitchen and the bar staff. To the competition convener, thank you in ensuring the tournament ran smoothly.

Overall winners were Ade Fuller, Eddie Bingham and Adrian Morrison. Second session winners were Jeff van Belkum, Steve Liebetrau and Herman van Zyl. The 100 board winner was Norma Raath.

Floodlight bowls took place last Friday night and an enthusiastic number of players took part in an entertaining and fun night of bowls, which was enjoyed by seasoned bowlers and beginners alike. Thanks to the committee for putting the evening together, the staff behind the bar and also to Rob and Sandy Hilton for supplying the hotdogs, rolls and the sauce toppings.

The members attendance draw took place and George Cormack’s name was drawn, George was not present so the prize carry’s over to the next event.

Dates to remember:
Saturday, 19 December, is the clubs annual Christmas party, remember to abide by the Covid-19 rules and regulations. These regulations apply to all events and visits to and at the club.

The following members will be celebrating birthdays over the remainder of this month, the president, committee and members would like to wish you all a very happy birthday; Les Gibbens, Alan Raubenheimer and Alan Hawkins.

The club will be closed from Monday, 21 December, until 4 January 2021, and the president and committee wish all members, sponsors and friends a happy and blessed Christmas and a prosperous and healthy New Year. Should you be travelling during the holiday season please drive carefully and return home safely.
