Law enforcement on the scene have advised that the situation remains under control.

In the Durban CBD, however, upwards of 400 marchers are making their way up Berea Road towards the city centre.

According to Estelle van Eeden, public relations officer of the Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum, Amanzimtoti is considered a low-risk area due to a low number of foreign-owned businesses.

During a meeting with Amanzimtoti police and local law enforcement groups, a community safety plan was discussed to ensure all stakeholders are mobilised in the Amanzimtoti policing area.

“Residents are encouraged to act as the eyes and ears of law enforcement, reporting any suspicious activity for verification and follow-up by the appropriate authorities while refraining from engaging hostile actors directly,” said Van Eeden.

In an emergency, dial SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10 111.
