Class of 2022 Top Achievers

THE recently released matric results have shown that hard work and dedication to one’s studies leads to good grades. The Umlazi district, which Amanzimtoti and the surrounds falls under, saw many schools do well in the 2022 examinations.
Amanzimtoti High School has again topped the circuit with a 100% pass rate. Last year, the school was also number one after achieving 98.6%.
In second place was Kuswag Skool with a 98.1% pass rate. Magabheni’s Sidelile High came third at 97.3% and Kingsway High School came in fourth at 97.1%. Umgababa’s Esizibeni High School and Mcothoyi High School came fifth and sixth with 84.8% and 81.3% respectively. The provincial pass rate of 83% is a 6.2% improvement from 2021’s 77% and ranks third in the country.
The department has also announced that January 31 is the deadline for those who want to register for the mid-year examination. This examination is intended for those learners who have not completed their matric, but also those who want to improve their results and write a supplementary examination as well as those who failed their matric.
“As the Department of Basic Education (DBE) we would encourage all learners who want to take up this opportunity to go to the department’s website and register. There are a number of online resources at the disposal of learners to assist with their studies and give them the best possible chance of success,” read the statement.
Learners can visit www.education.gov.za and click on the link to register for the amended senior certificate examinations at the bottom left of the DBE website homepage. This will link learners to an online registration portal. Alternatively, learners can visit their nearest district education office and register in person there.
“As the DBE we would encourage all of those who qualify to take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to attain a matric certificate which could be the gateway to a better life.
