Van Belkums help themselves to mixed 2-4-2 honours
Mixed 2-4-2 runners-up were Mike and Mardi Dovale
AMANZIMTOTI Bowling Club congratulates Doreen Salmond who beat Denise Bingham in the women’s handicap singles final.
In the women’s senior singles, Pam Chalder-Royle beat Molly Maughan, Jennifer Greenslade defeated Doreen Salmond, Val de Kok beat Vera Broskie, Barbara Beamson beat Joan van Rensburg and Denise Bingham overcame Jacqui Fouche.
In the mixed 2-4-2, winners were Jeff and Margaret van Belkum and runners-up were Mike and Mardi Dovale. The first session went to Coy Schrauwen and Bobby Stewart, and the second session was won by Val de Kok and Trevor Dempsey. Mike Dovale won the draw.
At TGIF the meat was won by Pete Shepard and the wine by Mike Roberts and Hennie van der Poel. Innocent Sithole was not present for the attendance draw so next week’s prize will be R150. Note, in future once the draw has been won, it will revert to R100 and not R50.
The first Toti mixed fours festival, held over the weekend, was a resounding success. This tournament was an annual event at Twini, and it is hoped it will continue each year at Toti. Winners were Paddy O’Brien, Monique Wells, Ron Farnham and Sharon McLaughlin of Hillary. Runners-up were Ian Crouch, Lofty van Tonder, Marion Crouch and Adrienne Robbins. In third place were Mervyn Conway, Andy McDonald, Robyn Hutton and Jackie Holdrick. The session winners were: First session, Julie and Sean Sutherland and Tokkie and Kokkie de Kock; second Mike Dovale, Neville Roscoe, Mardi Dovale and Amanda Ninow; third Dave Kemp, Alan McGregor, Jacqui Fouche and Linda McGregor; fourth Greg McLeod, Doug Joubert, Elsie Walker and Lynn Joubert; and fifth Richard Hendicott, Mike, Jo and Jackie of Wanderers.
All participants won prizes. Thanks to Conrad from our main sponsors, and to other sponsors, too numerous to mention.
Thanks also go to Gustav, Lesley, Talla (hopalong), Vera and kitchen staff for the delicious food, Colin and Owen behind the bar, Mickey Roche and team for the greens, Neville for scoring, Scorgie for organisation, Dougie for the music both on the greens and at the after-party, and Liz for all her hard work behind the scenes.
