Goal fest seals hockey women’s last seven matches

With five more matches left this season, the women look forward to the challenge of ending the first division league as one of the top three teams.

AFTER a hesitant start to the outdoor hockey season, the Toti women’s hockey team are having a successful season and have become one of the dominating teams of the women’s first division league.

They have not been beaten in their last seven matches and have notched up 19 goals in the last three games.

The team consists of the skillful goal-scoring combination of Annemarie, Roxy and Marcelle, the powerful link line-up of Jess, Ash, Kirsty, Sharon and Corinne, the solid defence of Shane, Erica and the two Nicoles and the consistent and calm sweeping abilities of Tammy and Janine. And ,of course, the most important person, goalkeeper Dot.

This year’s success is due to a number of factors, the first being the introduction of a great coach in ‘Bakes’. Through his patience and coaching expertise, Michael has managed to mould a group of highly talented individuals into a motivated and professional team of ‘mean machine’ players.

Another factor that has helped in the team’s improvement is they are finally able to have regular practises on an astro surface, and thanks for this go to Amanzimtoti High School for the hire of the their mini astro court for practises.
